Now in its 35th year, the SOURCE Awards competition is open to all lighting designers, architects, engineers, professional designers, and consultants who use Cooper Lighting fixtures in an interior or exterior design project. Students currently enrolled in any of these disciplines are also eligible to enter projects based on conceptual lighting designs utilizing Cooper Lighting fixtures, and are judged in a separate student category. 

The competition requires the primary and predominant use of any or all of the Cooper Lighting brands, and this year the competition seeks a creative use of fixtures providing energy-efficient design solutions in addition to standard projects. 

Projects are judged on the blending of aesthetics, creative achievement, and technical performance and the degree to which the lighting met project constraints and design concept goals. There will be no minimum or maximum number of awards given, as each project will be judged on its own merit. Award categories will include: Winner, Honorable Mention and Award of Recognition.

This year’s competition will once again seek a creative use of fixtures providing energy-efficient design solutions in addition to standard projects.

The competition was established to further the understanding, knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element of design.

Entries must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2012.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Projects will be judged on the blending of aesthetics, creative achievement, and technical performance and to the degree which the lighting met project constraints and design concept goals. There will be no minimum or maximum number of awards given, as each project will be judged on its own merit. Award categories will include: Winner, Honorable Mention and Award of Recognition. Special consideration may be given to projects displaying energy savings and sustainability as a result of the lighting.

Judging for the 35th Annual SOURCE Awards competition will take place February 2012, by a professional, independent panel of lighting and design professionals as well as a representative of the SOURCE, Cooper Lighting’s premier lighting education center.

Local and national recognition through publicity and advertising
Invitation to attend a lighting seminar of choice at the SOURCE-Cooper Lighting Center located in Peachtree City, Georgia (many seminars qualify for CEU/LEU credits)

Students

Crystal trophy in recognition of the project’s conceptual design excellence and the application of Cooper Lighting products
$1,500.00 cash award
Invitation to attend a lighting seminar of choice (along with their faculty advisor) at the SOURCE-Cooper Lighting Center

AWARDS CEREMONY

The winners of the 35th Annual SOURCE Awards will be recognized in May, 2012, at LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL in Las Vegas, Nevada.
